WELCOME
TO THE FTS
STEP
BY STEP REGISTER
This is a step-by-step registration guide, if you are good with a computer you will probably not need to read every single line of it. But if you get lost it is allways good to have a reference point of where you went off track, and how you can fix your problem. In order to be able to keep this window open so you can refer back to it when you wish to, you should open a new window (Ctrl-N on most web browsers). And another good Idea is to bookmark the Galactic Battlegrounds zone web page, and the FTS CT page (www.ftsct.8m.net).
To
become a member of FTS 3 steps must be taken:
1. E-mail request This is the first step, and an easy one. Just send an e-mail to tiger_squadron@hotmail.com with the following details.
Your
FTS_name e.g. if you have the zone name corran your FTS name
could be FTS_Corran (check with the recruiter to see if your FTS_name
is taken allready). Since you are joining the Crimson Tigers division of FTS, you should also add "_CT_" after the FTS tag. For example if you wanted the name Corran, then your name would be FTS_CT_Corran. This is to show that you have been recruited directly to the Crimson Tigers Battlegrounds team.
|
Your
e-mail address the email will be place on the
page and it could be seen by
anyone so maybe you want to open a new acount on a free server |
Who
recruited you. if no one recruited you or if they
are several of them just say it
on the mail. this is for archive propouse and will not afect you |
Which
Squad you will joinPicking your squad is important,
you don't wan't to stay "unassigned" forever. Check out the ROSTER for a list
of the squads.
|
After you send the e-mail you do not need to wait for confirmation. Just go back to the Zone and tell whoever is recruiting you that you've sent it.
2.
Roster Check & message board sign-up
This is just a message to tell
all the people of FTS that you are a new member and you are active. It is
to be posted on the
FTS Message Board (MB from now on).
To
get to the MB click on Message Board
|
FTS's
MB is hosted by a site called www.Gamers.com,
and to post messages on it you need to first register with them. Hopefully
when you clicked on the Message Board
link you were taken to the MB. (Be patient it takes a while to load
the first time) When you are at the the MB, you will see some announcements
at the top, and underneath you will see allot of posts made by various
FTS members. Inbetween the posts and the annoucements there should be
a link labeled "Post a New Message" on
the right side of the screen.
|
If
you are not registered at gamers.com this link will take you to the
login screen
Look for a link that says "Click Here to Register" and click it. This will take you to a simple register screen, with fields such as username, password, and all that junk. The important thing to do here, is make sure that the Username is the same name that you put as your FTS_name in the e-mail.(If they don't let you sign on in this name, it means that FTS allready has someone under that name. Allways check with the recruiter to see if your FTS_name is taken allready) |
After
filling out all the fields, click the "Let's Do
This" button on the bottom of the form. (Possible Error: if someone
has allready registered at gamers.com with the e-mail address you entered,
they will send you back to the register form telling you to use another
one. If you don't have a private e-mail address it's worth getting a
temporary one at www.hotmail.com
or any other free e-mail service)
After submitting the registration they will tell you an e-mail confirmation
is on the way, and there should be a button that says "Enough
Allready" if you click this it will close the web browser, so
it's better not to click it. Now
you should head back to the FTS MB
|
Click
the "Post a New Message" link again. Now
you may not be signed in at gamers.com at this point, so it will take
you back to the Sign in page. Fill out the fields with the stuff you
registered under, and click "Let's Do This".
This should take you back to the MB. Now click the "Post
a New Message" link again. This time it should take you to a
screen that says the board is password protected.
At this point you should return to the zone and ask
your recruiter what the password to the MB is (the password is
case-sensitive so make sure that you know whether to use capitals or
not). After entering the board password you will be taken back to the
MB, now for the last time click on the "Post a
New Message" link. This time the screen will be the actual message
fields.
|
Fill
in the subject as "Roster Check"
and fill in the message part with the info you included in your e-mail.
And click "Post". Now you can head on to
the next step.
|
3. Zone name change Changing your zone name is an important step
when
you sign-up. It tells everyone on the zone that you are FTS, and people
will usually stop pestering you about recruitment with a tag added to
your name. This step requires you to leave all zone applications, so
say bye to your recruiter and tell them you will back soon with your
new name.
|
After
you have quit all zone applications you should reload the Zone web page.
The "Zone Friends" program will launch
with it's "Log on as" window.Look
for the button that says
"New Zone Name" in the lower right corner of the window |
When
you click that button, you will be taken through the steps which you
have probably allready gone through when you first logged on to the
zone. (Don't worry about the download section,
the first step they take is to see if your zone software is up to date,
so click on the download button and it will take you through to the
next step if you allready have the zone programs.) The
new Zone name that you create should be your full FTS_name
that you sent in the e-mail (eg FTS_Corran). After you have finished,
re-enter the zone and go back to your recruiter. If you have any problems
with this step, usually the problem can be solved by exiting all zone
programs, and refreshing the Zone web page.
|
Optional Steps If your new and have just finished the above settings, give yourself a rest. Go back to the Zone and find a game, because FTS is about fun and you've done enough work for one day. These steps don't need to be done for a while, and some are completely optional.
